Progress Presentation and Feedback Workshop
CODER Juárez participated in the participatory workshop organized by UN-Habitat, in collaboration with the Municipality of Juárez, aimed at presenting the progress and preliminary results of the “Strategy for Inclusive and Sustainable Territorial-Productive Development of Ciudad Juárez.”
This workshop is part of a joint effort to promote an industrial development model that fosters equity, protects the environment, and improves the population’s quality of life.
Since 2022, UN-Habitat has been working with the Municipality of Juárez to design Vision Ciudad Juárez 2040, a project that establishes strategic initiatives for sustainable urban and regional development. Beginning in June 2024, both institutions entered a new phase to develop a strategy that seeks to maximize the benefits of future industrial investments, while reducing inequalities and safeguarding environmental resources. The project includes active participation from local stakeholders to ensure that decisions are inclusive and reflect the community’s expectations and needs.
The first workshop aimed to present the strategy’s progress to representatives from the public, private, academic, and civil society sectors of Juárez, in order to gather feedback and strengthen the preliminary diagnosis. Participants were also encouraged to identify additional data sources to enhance the analysis, share perspectives on industrial growth and its effects on the territory, environment, and quality of life, and define potential industrial expansion zones as well as areas at risk if planning is not properly managed.
This workshop represents a key step in the participatory process that will guide the “Strategy for Inclusive and Sustainable Territorial-Productive Development of Ciudad Juárez,” a crucial initiative to ensure a more equitable and sustainable future for the municipality.
As part of this strategic design, an important catalog of city initiatives and projects will be created. CODER Juárez, in its institutional role, will provide guidance, monitoring, and continuity to those projects that generate a positive impact on the quality of life in our region.
